So many people to thank…all of whom helped us raise over £900 on the night. That’s just awesome.

I asked Bob Dalgleish, a trustee of Fanconi Hope, what the money that you have donated to our ride will be used for…

Fanconi Hope is raising money to help find a cure for FA a devastating inherited genetic condition causing bone marrow failure and cancer. Although the condition is very rare the condition is known to be connected with breast cancer, so gaining a better understanding of FA may lead to cures for mainstream cancers.

Although the charity is very young, because of the generosity of families, friends and a small army of fundraisers we have already been able to sponsor a UK programme of research into gene therapy as a potential cure for FA. Gene therapy provides real hope that a cure for FA can be found, and this world-leading research is playing its part in achieving this.

Fanconi Hope is now working to bring together leading gene therapists from across the globe with an interest in FA in order to help expedite the move from research into clinical trials.

Money raised from this gig and the T2T cycle ride will help fund this very significant event which may well accelerate the pace of progress towards a cure for FA.
